Kittiporn Tantrarungroj has been involved in the world of choral singing since his early years, starting as a member of a church choir in his hometown. Throughout his journey, he has continuously enriched his experiences and honed his skills in the art of choral conducting. One significant milestone in his development was his time studying in the Philippines, where he had the opportunity to receive apprenticeship in choral conducting under the guidance of esteemed mentor, Mrs. Minerva Arit Peneranda.
As a highly regarded figure, both in Thailand and internationally, Tantrarungroj is frequently sought after as a lecturer, clinician, and jury member. He travels extensively throughout Thailand, conducting choral seminars to educate teachers and providing valuable advice to conductors nationwide. In addition to his expertise in conducting, Tantrarungroj is also a talented choral arranger and composer. His creations have gained widespread popularity, with over a hundred of his choral arrangements being sung by various choirs across Thailand. Notably, his arrangement of "Lao Duang Duean" holds the distinction of being the first Thai choral arrangement ever published by a Western world publisher.
Currently, Tantrarungroj is actively involved in organizing choral activities within Thailand. He takes on leadership roles and chairs numerous choral festivals, including the esteemed "Thailand Choral Festival," and is also involved in organizing multiple renowned concerts. His dedication extends beyond arranging, composing, and organizing as he has conducted a diverse range of groups, ranging from church and school choirs to university, community, and concert choirs. Since 2007, he has held the esteemed position of choirmaster for "The Bangkok Voices," a multi-award winning choir that is widely recognized as one of the top choral groups in Thailand.
In addition to his musical pursuits, Tantrarungroj also possesses remarkable skills as a piano and organ player. While residing in Bangkok, he earns his living as a surgeon, showcasing his versatility and commitment to multiple areas of expertise. Alongside his role as choirmaster, he also serves as the Vice-President of the "Thailand Choral Association." Furthermore, he represents Thailand in various international choral organizations, including the "International Federation of Choral Music (IFCM) – Asia-Pacific Working Committee" and the "World Choir Council." In recognition of his exceptional contributions to the choral community, he has been appointed as the President of the Thailand Choral Association, commencing in May 2023.
Kittiporn Tantrarungroj's extensive experience, unwavering passion, and remarkable achievements make him a highly respected and influential figure in the world of choral music. His dedication to promoting and nurturing choral excellence in Thailand and beyond is truly commendable.
Tommyanto Kandisaputra founded the Studio Cantorum Bandung Choir & Orchestra in 1991 and has served as its Artistic Director. He is also the leader and founder of the Bandung Choral Society which has organized various concerts, choir training, choir competitions, and symposiums.
Tommyanto is currently the Artistic Director of the Bali International Choir Festival which has been successfully held every year since 2012. The 12th event is scheduled for July 25-29, 2023. He is also the Artistic Director of the International Bandung Choral Festival, which will be held on November 8-11, 2023.
Tommyanto has successfully organized many other events including the North Sulawesi International Choir Competition (2008), Tomohon International Choir Competition (2009 and 2010), Indonesia Choir Festival in Medan (2015), Rhapsodie Jakarta (2019), Jakarta World Choir Festival (2019), and the Bandung Choral Festival in collaboration with Parahyangan Catholic University Bandung and the National Narcotics Agency of the Republic of Indonesia which was held on March 28-31, 2022.
Tommyanto is a singing teacher who leads many choral development programs for singers and conductors through seminars and workshops in various places in Indonesia. He was also elected as a member of the World Choir Council and Representative of INTERKULTUR Indonesia since 2006, which has brought many Indonesian choirs to appear on various stages and international competitions with great success. He was also the Artistic Director of The 1st Asian Choir Games held in Jakarta in November 2007.
In 2014, he was Indonesia's representative at the "One Asia Cultural Ambassador" event held by "The Music for One Foundation", South Korea. He became the conductor of the Taipei Philharmonic Youth Choir on May 4, 2016, performing at the National Concert Hall in Taipei, Taiwan. He was a speaker at the Asian Pacific Children Choir Assembly in Okinawa, in December 2016, and The Summer Academy of Lithuanian Conductors in Vilnius, Lithuania in August 2017. He led workshops at the Jeju Senior Festival – South Korea (2017) and the Jeju International Choral Symposium, on February 21-23, 2023.
Tommyanto has served as a judge at many international choir competitions including the World Choir Games in Xiamen, China (2006), Graz, Austria (2008), Shaoxing, China (2010), Cincinnati, USA (2012), World Choir Championship & The 2nd Asian Choir Games in South Korea (2009), Xing-Hai Choir Grand Prix, Guangzhou (2012), Suwon Choral Festival (2017), Claudio Monteverdi International Choral Festival in Venice (2019), Busan International Choir Competition, and Malaysia Choral Eisteddfod International Competition (2022), and Rimini International Choral Competition (2023).
In 2015, he founded the Indonesia Youth Choir and brought this choir to the international stage. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he remained active in organizing online choir education and Online Choral School, followed by the World Virtual Choir Festival 1-4, the 75th Independence Day of Indonesia Virtual Choir Competition on August 17-22, 2020, and The 10th Bali International Choir Festival 2023.
Apart from the choir festival, he created Virtual Choir: INDONESIA MENYANYI (Singing Indonesia), which involved 2,758 singers from all over Indonesia to commemorate National Awakening Day. He also created the Virtual Choir Red and White Festival to commemorate the 75th Independence of the Republic of Indonesia.
